Experts From the US Air Force, The World Economic Forum, Barclays and Korn Ferry Offer Insight Into Global Cybersecurity Challenges.
SAN JOSE, CA, September 5, 2018 - Virsec, a cybersecurity company delivering a radically new approach to protect against advanced targeted attacks, today announced the launch of the Virsec Security Expert Series, in which globally recognized cybersecurity experts provide both a deep dive into specific challenges and new perspective on resolutions in one-hour briefings delivered via live webinar.
The series kicks off with “Protecting Critical Infrastructure from Cyberattacks” conducted by Maj. Gen. Robert Wheeler (USAF Ret). Critical infrastructure is under unprecedented attack and new vulnerabilities are emerging daily. Gen. Wheeler will examine the “perfect storm” of political forces, aging infrastructure, increased automation, and advanced decentralized hacking; why outdated security models are failing; and the shift in mindset and defensive strategies essential to meeting the challenges ahead.
General Wheeler served as Deputy Chief Information Officer for Command, Control, Communications and Computers (C4) and Information Infrastructure Capabilities (DCIO for C4IIC), US Air Force.
The briefing will be conducted September 11, 2018 at 1 pm EDT / 10 am PDT. Attendees may register here.
Additional upcoming Virsec Security Expert Series briefings will include:
- “Is Security the Achilles’ Heel of IoT? New Security Strategies to Keep Up With IT/OT Convergence” with Prith Banerjee, Senior Client Partner at Korn Ferry and former EVP and CTO at Schneider Electric, Thursday, September 20, 2018, 10 am PDT.
With the explosion of IoT and increased convergence between IT systems and industrial Operational Technology (OT), is security an afterthought? While the potential of IoT seems limitless, inadequate security could significantly dampen growth and put much of our industrial infrastructure at risk.
- “Can We Rein In the Global Cybersecurity Crisis?” with renowned security experts Troels Oerting, Head of Global Centre for Cybersecurity (GCC) of the World Economic Forum, and Usama Fayyad, former CIO of Barclay’s, Tuesday, September 25, 2018, 8 am PDT.
The World Economic Forum has elevated cyberattacks as one of the top global risks in terms of likelihood and impact, ahead of all other types of technological, economic, political or terrorist risks. The easy availability of advanced hacking tools combined with our aging infrastructure and outdated security models is a recipe for disaster. To tackle this looming crisis, we need to rethink our approach to security, and develop new strategies to protect our most critical applications and infrastructure.
All briefings in the series will also be made available on demand to registrants following the events.
