What is DAST (Dynamic Application Security Testing)?

A black box testing approach that is aimed at uncovering vulnerabilities in an application from the hacker's perspective. Since DAST uses a black box approach, the inner workings of an application such as its frameworks, source code, and libraries are not known to the tester at the start of a DAST test.
